Round Table Discussion
A roundtable discussion is a platform where people agree to discuss and debate a specific topic. Every individual has an equal chance to participate. Enabling them to make a contribution freely and completely to the debate.
The goal of a roundtable discussion is to learn and hear various points of view. It serves as a reminder that behind every opinion is a person with feelings, a face with a story to tell, and a soul that deserves to be heard. It allows us to consider our positions on issues that we might otherwise dismiss, as well as hear from people we might otherwise dismiss or ignore. We might be shocked to discover that they are remarkably relatable, comparable, and knowledgeable enough to help us challenge or support our own positions.
When participating in a round table discussion, one thing we must always keep in mind is that not everyone sees opinions as facts, in black and white, or as right or wrong. However, we must always remember that the point of a round table discussion is to make things clear and give room for different points of view.
Let us remind ourselves of the advantages of discovering something new whenever someone’s point of view is different from ours. Furthermore, if the people at the table are people we know, it will reveal and clarify an aspect of their personas that was previously unknown to us.
Finally, round table discussions are an excellent way to weigh the perspectives of those who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about contributing to a particular topic.
